It Would Be Easy

It Would Be Easy

A Poem by Mae Taylor
"

A relationship that was half in your head.

"

You don't understand.

How easy it would be to give in.

To succumb to you, your body.

To let you take over me,

giving me relief and clarity.

To feel your familiar touch,

reminding me of a home I once had in you.

The one place I was accepted,

the place where I found love.

But the clarity you give me is untrue.

Memories twisted, distorted to what I had desired.

Make-believe feelings cloud my head,

flooding with unneeded emotion.

Love that only ends with pain.

My mind succumbing to guilt

It's not worth the trouble, the hurt.

I know this was not your intention

Still this is how our love has been.

The real fight is withholding myself from you

I just want you to know,

it would be easy.

Easy to let you love me.
