UNKNOWN PLAY

This is gonna be a demo for a play I might work on, right now I'm just gonna give you a monologue. ^_^

Enter Ringmaster, stands on center stage with the spotlights on him

Ringmaster: Ladies and Gentlemen! Welcome to the Circus! It is an honor that you took the time to come and watch this humble establishment provide you endless entertainment. I am so humble that I'm in tears, tears of joy that WE are loved by you all... Now! Let me tell you a quick story how I became a Ringmaster...

[Sings]
It was a cold silent night, that brought me to my knees
I couldn't bear the stinging cold of death himself!
I saw a circus tent, that hovered over me like a giant
I went inside, and the lights shimmered like the heavens!
I saw majestic players do extraordinary things, that seemed impossible to do:
An armless woman taming a lion with her feet, twin brothers flying across the stage,
a man who swallows spears, and.... [Stops singing]

[Pauses, then resumes] A blind woman in a black wedding dress singing her song of sorrow. Her song moved my heart, the crowd was silent and awe inspired by her voice. It was like an angel was present before us, it swept away our joy like a storm that destroyed everything in its path. After her performance, I realized something in my heart that I realized... I've fallen in love with the circus and the blind diva, I just have to meet her. But in the end.... [Pauses, frowns then smiles] Well it's a long story, that I must save another time! Without further adieu, let us begin the show! [Walks off stage]
