Chiton crunch

Chiton crunch

A Poem by Maxwell Ryder

Cicada moltings
Clinging
On crampons,
Ascending
oak trunks;
Bolted in,
Eyes bugged,
Focused on
the summit above;
Mountaineers fall
From Everest
During autumn’s
Avalanches;
Chitons crunched
Under children’s
Jack boot stomps.

Interesting prose on cicadas and the mountainous trees they must climb. I like the metaphor and comparison. Especially when the autumn winds come, the empty shells crash to earth and then are ground to dust. Great imagery, great all around. I like this. You been alright?
