Desert heart

Desert heart

A Poem by Maxwell Ryder

I smell you from afar,
Over there,
Somewhere behind
A singing lark,
Lay your hidden star
In the dunes of time
Shifting,
Scarring the land,
Scrunching them
Together,
Pulling them apart;
The folds of an
accordion,
You are dancing
On the winds;
You are my desert
heart,
Endlessly red,
ceaselessly charred.

The below lines could stand alone.
"ou are dancing
On the winds;
You are my desert
heart,
Endlessly red,
ceaselessly charred."
The words meaningful and strong. Thank you Maxwell for sharing your amazing poetry and thoughts.

Really nice flow to this hypnotic poem, with a sadness at the end with the charred red heart. Makes you stop and think.
