Simile

Simile

A Poem by Maxwell Ryder

I’ve never been one for simile
I’d rather take out the first “i”
And watch people’s eyes
As their brows rise,
And at the corners of their mouths
When they get it,
Then laugh out loud.

Using “like” isn’t for poets;
It’s face paint for circus clowns.

Very interesting word play! I prefer metaphor to simile myself. That "like" or "as" just gets in the way, huh? I also enjoy comparing words & patterns of digits/letters this way *smile* Fondly, Margie
