Binary-ness

Binary-ness

A Poem by Maxwell Ryder

My God
Gave my fluid
binary-ness
When I shoot,
I fire in Xs and Ys;
Sometimes
I make a girl,
Sometimes
I makes a guy
That takes an X
On a date;
They stay up late
And make
Future wives,
Or people
Who tell
Themselves
Bold-faced lies,
Or duality
Embrace.

This is the most imaginative way to tell that old story about the birds & the bees. I marvel at how your mind digs down to find a completely original way to tell a common story in an uncommon way. The title is a word I never would’ve thought about using in this way, but the appropriateness of this word choice slaps us in the face! I love the subtle yet bold way you dive into the “juice” right off! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
