Reticule

Reticule

A Poem by Maxwell Ryder

What’s in a woman’s reticule,
but a little rouge, mace
and ridicule.
Gentleman, learn to give way.
Save face.

This is an interesting little poetic statement, largely becuz of your word choices. You pick words that are unusual (ex: "reticule" -- never heard it used for "purse"!) Also "rouge" -- seemingly "retro" word for it. These are little touches that give your poem an "old school" feel, which I enjoy. I love the way you use "reticule" and "ridicule" together as wordplay with sounds. Clearly you enjoy vocabulary. And your wisdom is evident in your final advice! *smile* Fondly, Margie
