Give me imperfectionA Poem by Maxwell Ryder
How endearing is a scar?
People like faces clean, like they do their cars, New, without dent or ding, so they cut, inject, lift In pursuit of pristine, A fictitious dream; They Botox as often As they paint job, Permanent brows, Painted lips; But I prefer the story Of wrinkles, birth marks, even pocks; forget the tucks and nips, Or the mistaken tattoo They once got for a love gone wrong. Can't imagine An illustrator Without its cartoon. © 2017 Maxwell RyderReviews
