Prologue

A Chapter by Maxi Belamie

"This is the end," the broken boy thinks.

Darkness. Smell of gasoline and metallic taste of blood. And pain... He can't even cry any more. He can't beg, nor plead. He can't scream, nor trash around to get away from his tormentors. He can't move. His head bounces lightly with the movement of the vehicle as the blood pools beneath him.

Then a screeching of tires and the vehicle stops. Pop of a trunk and rough hands grabbing him.
One moment of flying though the cold winter air...
Then pain shooting through him as his body smashes onto the concrete. One of them laughs wickedly and murmurs something, but the boy can't understand him. The murmurs seem to fade away with the steps. A few moments later the vehicle roars to life.

The boy opens his silver eyes for the last time. Everything is blurry and dark, but he manages to distinguish two red lights of the car moving away, fading down the dark alley. Nothing but concrete and darkness surrounds him.
It's too cold and his tiny body trembles violently.

"This is the end," he thinks. This is how he dies.
Bruised, bleeding and broken. Tossed on the street like a stray dog. But the thought is welcome. The thought of ending this once and for all. Even though that he is beyond ruined, corners of his mouth lift upward as he closes his eyes.
Deep darkness settles over him and the pain and the cold start to drift away as warmth creeps in...
