Chapter IIA Chapter by MaxSwiftChapter II
As soon as Adam touched the planchette, a term which means “the moving piece on the Ouija board”, he noticed something odd. Nothing too serious, but he got a chill in his lower back, which then traveled all the way up to the back of his neck not stopping until it sizzled the back of his ears. He looked around at everyone else, and figured they must have felt it because they were all looking around at each other. Adam chuckled to himself, thinking it was somewhat funny and ironic, but shrugged it off as nothing more than a coincidence. Janice was the first to say something, “Did you guys feel that?” She asked. “As soon as I touched this piece, I got a weird chill up my back. That was weird.” “I did,” Jack responded. “And this moving piece that the spirit uses to communicate with us is called a planchette. It's a french term which means little plank.” “I felt it, too,” Adam added. “It even got my ears.” “Same here, that really was weird. Did we all feel that? What are the chances? Did you feel it, Kyle?” Alisha asked. He nodded in agreement, but didn't say anything. Jack cleared his throat. “We are here today, calling out to any entity, or entities, that may be occupying this space. We do not mean to disturb you, but we would like to ask some questions. First, we will have Kyle ask the first question. Kyle?” “Are we alone?” he asked softly....and then they waited. The candles offered a soft, dim, shine surrounding the table, but faded quickly to darkness a few feet away. It seemed as if a few minutes had passed and everything was silent, the only noticeable sound were the soft breath of everyone at the table. Then, the planchette moved. Only faintly, not enough to be considered a response, but it moved a few centimeters to the right, towards the NO. The planchette started in the blank spot above the numbers but under the letters, in the center of the board, and still remanded in that blank space. “Does that count?” Kyle asked curiously. Jack shrugged his shoulders, “I'm not sure, to be honest. But we will take that as a good sign. Let's continue, I'm next and I will now ask the next question. Are you a wrathful spirit, do you mean us any harm?” And again, they waited. This time, it seemed as if they waited forever. Just when Adam was about to give up due to impatience, Jack spoke. “Alright, let's keep going. Who's next? Alisha?” “Okay,” Alisha said taking a deep breath. “If you did died here in this house, were you murdered?” Again, silence. But after about a minute, the piece moved. But more then a few centimeters this time, this time the piece moved, slowly, all the way to the word NO. Adam wasn't sure if that was someone else just moving the planchette to make this a little more interesting, or if they had actually made contact with something. The way that it moved, was a little weird, because it wasn't steady, it stuttered it's way over to the top right side of the Ouija board. “Whoa,” Kyle said. “Was that you guys just trying to mess with me?” “Of course it was,” Alisha replied with conviction. “The real question is who did it? I know it wasn't me.” Adam didn't reply. He definitely wasn't the one who moved the planchette, but he knew that no one would admit to it, so there was no reason for him to even deny it aloud. At this point, he wasn't convinced that the planchette have moved on its own, but he did get that weird chill, but this time it went down his spine. “I didn't move the piece, but I did get a weird chill again,” Jack stated. Adam raised his head and met Jack's eyes, and in that moment they both knew each other had felt it. “No,” Kyle said, changing his mind, “There is something here. Seriously, can't you feel it? I didn't think so at first, but I can feel it now.” “So,” Alisha stated, “If there is a ghost talking to us, we just found out that he wasn't murdered. That's creepy did he kill himself or something?” “Remember,” Jack reminded his girlfriend, “We don't want this entity to get mad for any reason. Assuming it committed suicide, or addressing the wrong gender might not be such a good idea. Let's keep these questions as simple as possible, and leave no room for misunderstanding.” “It's my turn, right?” Adam asked, and Jack nodded in agreement. Adam had a question planned but the question that came out of his mouth wasn't the same. “Jack already asked this question, but...Do you have any intention to harm him or anyone who lives here?” The response time was immediate, and the planchette started moving around the Ouija board, this time spelling the answer, not using the YES or NO answers. The first letter was M, then A, Y, B, E...and then....nothing. “Maybe?” Adam asked curiously, and looked to Jack for an explanation. Jack looked just as confused as anyone else. “What kind of answer is that?” “What does that mean? Is it trying to be funny,” Kyle asked, sounding a little nervous. “Maybe, he's trying to harm us? Maybe?” His voice was rising a bit, now. “Kyle, come on, man.” Jack responded, “Let's try to stay calm. Getting upset and defensive isn't going to help the situation, regardless if these answers are true or not. Try not to worry, let's just keep going and get as much information from this thing as we can, okay?” Kyle took a deep breath, and rubbed his face anxiously. “Janice, you're next up.” “I'm not sure what I should ask, and to be honest I'm getting a little freaked out. I'm not so sure I want to do this anymore, guys.” Janice said, which surprised Adam. Adam didn't really know these people that well, not even Janice, but based on her demeanor he would think she would have a high tolerance for anything supernatural. But he could clearly see it in her face, not necessarily fear, but she was obviously very uncomfortable. “We can't stop, yet, Janice. To end the séance we have to say goodbye, but if we do that now, Kyle may not get the answers that he needs. How about we just skip your turn?” Jack asked. “Okay, that's cool,” she agreed. “Kyle?” Kyle paused for a second and brought his finger to his mouth, deep in concentration. He couldn't seem to find a good question to ask, and then it hit him. “Why haven't you moved on?” And then they waited. Several minutes went by, and the planchette didn't move at all. It seemed as if the entity wasn't liking Kyle's questions, because he was the only one not getting answers. Well, him and Janice, seeing as how she was refusing to ask any more questions. Kyle let out a deep breath in disappointment. The past few weeks of stress was now starting to show on his face, flickering about in the dim, candle lit basement. Adam could feel the worry when he looked Kyle in his face. He felt bad, he could see that something was really bothering him, and all Kyle wanted was to know why, “Alright, I don't want to do this anymore. This stupid spirit doesn't want to tell us anything. The only thing this ghost wants is to crack jokes.” Kyle said in a burst of frustration and rage. This random outburst from Kyle made Adam raise his eyebrow a bit. “Guys,” Janice interrupted softly, “I don't feel good, I'm sort of dizzy.” Adam placed his hand on her shoulder and replied, “Are you okay? Maybe you should sit back on the couch for a second?” “I..,” Alisha begin, slowly and confused, “I feel...weird. You guys feel that? The air is so heavy.” Adam looked over at Alisha and noticed she looked more pale than she did just a few moments before. Jack put his hand gently on Alisha's face and asked, “You alright?” “I don't know, let's just end this already,” and she started to stand up, but Jack stopped her. “Hold on a second, we have to say goodbye real quick. Just give me a second.” Adam helped Janice onto the couch. She covered her face with both of her hands and took a deep breath. Adam didn't know how to help, and was surprised that she got such a sudden case of dizziness. “We thank you for your answers and appreciate you conversing with us. We leave you now, in peace, and cut ties with any other realms. We appreciate the time, again, and GOODBYE,” and with that Jack concluded the séance. Janice stood up slowly, but Adam stayed sitting, and looked up at her. “I think I feel a little bit better,” she said softly. “Really?” Adam asked. “That's great.” And not even two seconds later, Janice passed out, pushing the table slightly, and falling onto her right side. Everyone rushed to her side. © 2016 MaxSwift |
