The Summer KingA Poem by MaxAnother poem inspired by the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series by George R. R. MartinThe King resides upon his throne and sees the land he calls his
own. Though Winter fell and kingdom
grown, His Grace has not yet Winter
known. “The Summer King,” the people
cry, “cannot hold back the Winter sky, the winds so cold, the snow so
high. When Winter comes, we all shall
die.” When monsters from the North
proceed to take the realm and make it
bleed, a wise King would this warning
heed: Prepare or thou shalt not
succeed. To stop the Northern Winds thou
must in tales of old put all thy
trust. Great swords of steel will naught
but rust; The Walkers will turn all to dust. Lost secrets should be found anew, those secrets that the ancients
knew; those arts that now we think
untrue must now be used to see us
through. Old feuds should all be put to rest, and all unite in this one quest. Divided lands, rife with unrest, Won’t stand against the Winter’s
test The Summer King may yet stand
tall: If he were to his banners call and aid those who watch from the
wall, together they could withstand
all. Max Levites - 6/1/11 © 2011 MaxFeatured Review
