Starks

Starks

A Poem by Max
"

Inspired by George R. R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series. So far, this is the fate of the Stark children by the end of "A Feast For Crows", so if you haven't gotten that far... SPOILER ALERT

"

The Eldest,

floating dead down the river

red with the blood of a lost chance at peace.

Killed in the fray, beheaded,

he left behind the girl he wedded

to save face.

Like his father before him,

Honor was his death.

And so the eldest wolf pup gave up his last breath.

His sister sits atop a mountain,

and lives under a different name.

Unknown she is to all but one.

Grown up, naivité shed,

the auburn wolf lies upon her bed,

heiress to the Northern lands of her father.

Her protector plots to see her resurrect

the fallen house the wolves protect.

The third wolf lives across the sea,

learning secrets of a secret trade.

Quiet and quick as the cats she once chased

in the alleys of the King's red city,

she creeps along the canals, alone and gritty.

Yet for making friends she has a knack,

The wolf's nature's to form a pack.

The crippled wolf moves north,

beyond the edge of the world.

Thought dead, he lives on,

within and without his companion,

looking to save the world

from the monsters in the tales the old woman once told.

The smallest, run away with the wildling girl,

hides deep in deep wild wood.

Wishing to see his pack, all together live they could.

Yet safety eludes the youngest pup,

His home destroyed, in flames gone up.

The B*****d pup resides with his new pack,

Yet still to home he longs to go back.

With his new brothers, he formed the sacred bond,

Protecting the people from dangers beyond.

Five wolves still live, biding their time,

for the day will come when their house again will rise.

They wait and wait for the Lion’s demise.

“When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies

but the pack survives.”

Hands down my favorite of yours. E V E R! I can't explain my love for it. The description, the rhyme scheme, the story line. gawdddd. It is a kaleidescope of everything one needs in a perfect poem and that makes it perfect.

For me this lends heavy to those that pierce the supernatural and the divine at the same time. A very well written piece, well done
