The Ocean And The DarknessA Poem by Mavis BardThere exists an emptiness between the ocean and the darkness.Who are you Who am I Who are we That we decide The life of our king That dangles from a string To preserve him alive Despite his suffering But the ocean of love Sings a song from above That descends unto our hearts like a dove That embraces composure And comforts with closure And imprints on our hearts time’s exposure But lately I have found This darkness all around Symptomatic of A lack of love There he will lay On the edge of his throne With silicone blue tubes That he will bemoan We fight all the demons To reclaim his dying soul But no matter the fight The king still will grow old Then the ocean of love Sings a song from above That descends unto his heart like a dove That embraces composure And comforts with closure And imprints on his heart time’s exposure But the emptiness spreads With the darkness as its head Leaving me numb and dry As the king dies © 2010 Mavis Bard |
