Prelude in D (The Lullaby)A Poem by Mavis BardIt was just a harmless walk Down How inane… And then I found her behind the
breeze. She blows a kiss on my lips; My mind is crossed, And now I’m lost In these woods of dying trees. When the road bottoms out She will drag you down, And you will say… My mind slumbers through dream of
troubles As I drift into a fear that doubles. Close your eyes and rest your
head; Soft and warm is your bed; So sleep on with no fear. I awake to find myself In free fall; I can’t recall How she played it like a gentle
poke. I’m cast into a new nightmare That’s cold and dark, Without a lark, But there is a faint song I invoke: Sleepyhead, close you eyes, And show me the secret Places of your heart. My mind slumbers through dream of
troubles As I drift into a fear that doubles. Close your eyes and rest your
head; Soft and warm is your bed; So sleep on with no fear. Can you hear the sound of my
guiding voice? Listen carefully; I will steer you through your
gloom So you can sleep tight. My mind slumbers through dream of
troubles As I drift into a fear that doubles. Close your eyes and rest your
head; Soft and warm is your bed; So sleep on with no fear. Lullaby, and sleep tight. © 2011 Mavis BardAuthor's Note
