Cherished Desire

Cherished Desire

A Poem by Mavis Bard

There is a feeling

That will fill your holes

But what it is concealing

Is how it controls

Your soul

To enrol

Arms control

It was a fantasy

That has been born

A scourging revelry

Left you forlorn

Let it fly

Let it fall

Into it burning fire

Let it die

Caged with desire

And then this feeling

Turned into a pretty boy

But what he was concealing

Was his sordid ploy

To destroy

Your joy

How coy

He’s an agent of seduction

When you’re on your knees

Begging for destruction

Through venereal disease

Let him fly

Let him fall

Into the burning fire

Let him die

Caged with desire

One by one

Now you’re gone

One by one

Now you’re gone

Tongue in tongue

Now you’re done

Tongue in tongue

Now you’re done
