Dry Out

Dry Out

A Poem by Mavis Bard

The clouds burst and the waters fall;
I’m just drying out.
I’m holding tightly to my skin bottle
With tears that slowly trickle down.
It never stops growing.
It never stops raining.
We never stop knowing
The fears that are draining.
Suddenly she calls to me
With such a lovely tone
That draws a rift through the darkened sky
And warms my deepest bones.
The crescent moon clears the rain
As she dries away the pain.
This bottle now has none to gain
While she keeps me sane.

Wrap me up in your arms
And kiss me goodnight.
I’ll build a bridge and climb to the sky
And taste your light tonight.
After all, I’m just drying out.
