Space Cadet

Space Cadet

A Poem by Mavis Bard

Maybe it’s true
The stars return to you
The rainbow leads to you
The moons will turn for you
But what about me
Why won’t you turn for me

Still we circle around the sun
Still we circle around the sun
Somewhere in between we will be
Burning into oblivion

All I see are sparks
Black holes empty remarks
Colorful missing marks
In starlit fields of parks
I already know
This light’s ready to blow

Still we circle around the sun
Still we circle around the sun
Somewhere in between we will meet
And burn into oblivion

I’m your captain, space cadet
Not your lunar silhouette
The sooner we reach the sun
The sooner we reach oblivion
