Sandina

Sandina

A Poem by Mavis Bard
"

Only in a lie.

"

Moroccan lips are blazing

In the fiery sky

Mouth is dry

Hands are splitting

Her heavy skin burns into my eyes

Don’t look away, but

Don’t stare into her eye

Sandina

Oh, Sandina

Whisper me lullabies

Out within the distance

Her hips dance the waves

Shimmering blue oasis

Spurs the empty thought

That I was once her slave

Raging a desert cry

Why won’t you go and die

Sandina

Oh, Sandina

Why won’t you go and die

My eyes have no real focus

My thoughts soon drift away

The two of us, girl

Kiss with freedom

To the silent song

That will send us to our grave

The ending time is nigh

Only in a lie

Sandina

Oh, Sandina

We only live a lie
