Mourning Wood

Mourning Wood

A Poem by Mavis Bard

Mourning wood
Please uninvite me
From the shadows of my soul
I feel so cold
The dryness of your walls
Makes my hair stand straight
I’m living one day at a time
But each minute I’m slowly passing away
Malignant wrath, please go away
Please

Darkened livers
Drooling mouths
Ultra violent rays full of pain
I would if I could…
A thousand thoughts flood my mind
My flesh begins to float
I’m dancing on the waters of life
With a smile of doubt
Malignant wrath, please go away
Please

Malignant wrath please go away
Mourning wood has come today

Seems to me like the feelings and thoughts of an attendant at a funeral of someone beloved. Good write for you make the reader literally go through these emotions. Sad but great work! Well done.

hm, very interesting piece with good rhythm. I like the last two lines, it puts some emphasis on the meaning of your title.

Ultra violent rays full of pain

I love the play on words, very creative. this is a sad but very well written piece
