Of all of the Wonders

Of all of the Wonders

A Poem by Michael Aveni

Of all of the wonders all over the world

of secrets in scriptures yet to be unfurled

of masters and novices, clowns and old fools

of witches and ghosts and goblins and ghouls

of doctors and lawyers, of poets and singers

of missed opportunities, deep pain that lingers

of all the ways to escape struggle and strife

of drugs and abuse and of taking your life

of waiting and thinking, and thinking again

and choosing that you cannot put to an end

this life that’s so full of things you couldn’t know

I think you’ll go far, or I really hope so
