The SubconsciousA Story by MauricioXzavierThe battle to accept who we are
After I close my eyes and begin my journey into the dream abyss I see my own subconscious. It’s a limitless ocean, deeper than Mariana’s trench. The water is clear but the dark environment makes it look as black as onyx. The surface is as smooth as glass. When I peer into the surface I see my reflection. My true reflection. Every imperfection is staring back at me. My true shadow, my desires, as well as demons all peer at me in this reflection. In the waking world I’m able to hide and suppress them. But not here. As I reach my hand into the ocean of my subconscious to touch my reflection something pulls me into the water. As I fight this being and struggle to get free I see my assailant-it’s me. As I stop struggling and look at my doppelgänger in confusion he says, “Welcome home” and helps me back to the surface of the water. After we reach the surface, my doppelgänger gives me a wide grin and dives back into the ocean of my subconscious.
