SEASONS

SEASONS

A Story by Maumil Mehraj

"SEASONS"

Does it ever happen to you that in summer you sort of think about what winter would be like? You wonder about how you could wrap yourself in a blanket, turn on the radiators and sit by the fire? But when winter comes, it seems so familiar. Like summer never existed. And the same happens the other year, and the next, and the next...and goes on till forever!

You are not alone, Maumil, and I guess it's because we often think about the things we cannot have at that moment so we create them in our minds to fill the longing... it's still chilly here and I want so much for summer to arrive but I know when it does, so will the flies, and I will yearn for autumn, until the rainy damp weather sets in at which time I will pray for the snow of winter... when it arrives, I will complain about the cold biting winds and shovelling and pray for spring... and on and on :)

true....Thanks for reading :)
Beautifully put into words Maumil! :) The poem is straightforward and something we all can connect to and it's simplicity makes it more sparkling. It's human absurdity expressed informally and excellently. :)

You wonder about how you could wrap yourself in a blanket, turn on the radiators and sit by the fire?
I love the imagery in this line. Very well-written. :)

But when winter comes, it seems so familiar.
True that! I like the way the writeup is so informal. ''Familiar'' describes the bored feeling superbly. :)

And the same happens the other year, and the next, and the next...and goes on till forever!
The ending is great. You're perfectly right that we'll always feel this way. Great work! :)

Many who have thought the grass is greener on the other side... but I for one try to remember that the past is gone so don't cry over it, the future isn't here so don't worry about it, the present is now which is why its a gift. Thank you for sharing your poetry, well done.

Those are beautiful thoughts, Todd! Thanks for reading ^_^
Us humans are never content. Too cold or too hot. The four seasons changes and a lot of folks like to complain. I like the four seasons. Give us a opportunity for change. Thank you for sharing the excellent story.
