THE MOMENT WHEN YOU LET GO

THE MOMENT WHEN YOU LET GO

A Poem by Maumil Mehraj

"The moment when you let go"
For too long I had been hoping,
trying to open the door which had long been shut.
On the other side what was,
I knew not. But was madly in love
with whatever it had to reveal.
Desperate, I became obsessed with
a dream that was fruitless.
And heart is a bad learner, never listens!
Caged, fenced and shut, I kept
knocking on that door.
A sonorousness somewhere, a door slid open.
I lifted my head, my eyes fixed on the door.
It stood solid as ever, without a tiny crack.
I readjusted my gaze, towards an illuminated spot,
the other door had opened,
welcoming me with warmth.
I took one last look at my fancy door,
and made my way, towards the light...
It was the moment when I let go...!

A splendid poem as always. It was intriguing and interesting till the end. I liked the twist in your tale and you're absolutely amazing at expreesing feelings as well as situations. Great job! :)

For too long I had been hoping,
trying to open the door which had long been shut.
This made me so curious to read the rest. Perfect opening! :)

On the other side what was,
I knew not. But was madly in love
with whatever it had to reveal.
A simple human obsession expressed really, really well. All humans are Pandora's in their own way. I loved the concept as well as the lines! :)

Desperate, I became obsessed with
a dream that was fruitless.
That happens to everybody but your way of putting it is great. Beautifully expressed! :)

And heart is a bad learner, never listens!
True that! The line is cute literally. A child-like complaint about the stubornness of the heart. :)

A sonorousness somewhere, a door slid open.
I liked the onomatopiae as well as the imagery here. Good line. :)

I lifted my head, my eyes fixed on the door.
It stood solid as ever, without a tiny crack.
The imagery here is superb. One can easily picture what you're saying. Great job! :)

I took one last look at my fancy door,
and made my way, towards the light...
It was the moment when I let go...!
Absolutely beautiful and unexpected ending (for me). :) Somehow I felt the poem is based on the concept of love and choosing the person who loves you over the one you love and can't get. Or for that matter choosing whatever welcomes you rather than what you want to welcome you. Whatever the concept, the poem is brilliant and inspiring. Well done! Keep writing! :)
