IN THE NIGHT

IN THE NIGHT

A Poem by Maumil Mehraj

        IN THE NIGHT

The restless vitality of the day
is covered by a dark blanket of night.
The princes and the beggars return
to their dwellings - grand or modest
The people of the Earth retire for the day,
too tired for another word.
But 'midst the crowd are a few gems of humankind
letting go of their imagination,
for is there a more creative time than the night?
They talk to the stars, learn their age old wisdom
they talk to the night sky,
which has secrets hidden deep.
They weave pearls of words on the
delicate thread of conversations.
They give something worthwhile
to the world to admire and adore...!

An appealing poem revealing several realities of life. Philosophical in a sense and beautiful from every aspect. :)

I liked the generality you estalished through these lines. A beautiful way to convey how all of us are the same and require the same things. :)

This is so true! It's totally me. I can fall asleep within five seconds after getting into my bed! :D I loved these lines. :)

They weave pearls of words on the
delicate thread of conversations.
They give something worthwhile
to the world to admire and adore...!
The ending is superb. The idea is great. You've not only depicted the beauty of the night but also matked out the importance of observing that beauty. The imagery is amazing and the thoughts conveyed are realistic and penned in an admirable way. I enjoyed the poem greatly. Keep up the good work! :)
