Gale

Gale

A Poem by Maulth
"

Oh how the wind blows...

"
My mind can only stretch my world so far
Beyond the far reaches of this hated reality
Tethered to a life as unrelenting as it is hard
Away from my oasis, just another casuality

I bore the guise of an aegis proud and strong
Far past the trivial love of a day long past
Yet I neglected my true hearts cries of wrong
Crumbling under a weight I could not hope to outlast

The cracks in my facade were sealed with no remorse
Slowly color seaped back into my sad little existence
Even as I frantically looked for the promiscuous source
I gave into this new order with no thought, no resistance

But it was only the calm before the thunderous gale
As your life was still intertwined with mine
Your words of regret and longing were cascading hail
The sirens in the distance warned of a heart that would never be fine
