Numb

Numb

A Poem by Maulth
"

When the numbing of a brittle soul cracks at the foundation

"
The numbness has woven the past few years
Into a harness secured tightly upon my soul
Depression bearing the fruit of all my fears
A flame drearily burning the exhausted coals

I cannot divine a future of such primitive distaste
Watching as the cards begin to fall into place
I should have folded yet blindly gave way into my haste
Now I am slowly dying of a thirst I cannot sate

The written word cuts deeper than the sharpest blade
Piercing the much battered remains of my unyielding devotion
Yet your words ring true and serrated, refusing the wound to fade
Never before have I felt so utterly devoid of all emotion

A counselor to whom I can I try to provide
Yet my own woes weaigh my ever fragile heart
An impossible hope spans this ever increasing divide
Prolonging the life of this cursed love from it's benign start
