BeliefsA Poem by MaulthWhat happens when the end has consumed us?
Through time and age man has pondered his life.
The who’s and why’s of our existence here, Answers to be had, to vague, to precise. But questions unanswered draw forth a primordial fear. What if there is nothing beyond this life we possess? No feelings to feel, only the void to contemplate. Secret thoughts, dreamt in darkness, too horrible to confess. A world in which we reside, no true faith to imitate. It is our creed that we are one nation under god. Yet even the mightiest among us commit the greatest of sin. They wear their faith like a mask, their guise, their façade. A corruption so deep, a wound impossible to mend. We attempt to circumvent belief with science and “fact”. A task unto itself, blasphemy and sins far worse. But when the day comes, and it’s air your lungs do lack. What is it that you shall see beyond your desolate hearse? © 2011 Maulth |
