Darkness

Darkness

A Poem by Maulth
"

The encroaching despair is cloying to the point of it being unbelievable.

"
This pain is much more than physical
I can feel it wearing me down
Like some long forgotten pain, trivial
The fringes of my sanity flee without a sound

It rages like words of power
Constantly beating against my defenses
Finally shall come forth the hour
In which a new darkness commences

My attempts to circumvent so feeble
The hat donned, my life the joke of a jester
I feel the searing pain hot like a needle
These broken wounds left to fester

All that I am now lies in ashes
All that I will be now in dust
As I watch, my life crashes
Such a scene of discord and mistrust

As I wait for the darkness to claim me
I think about what it is that has been done
These blind eyes left nothing to see
The unraveling of it all has only begun

Author's Note

Maulth
I changed one line from my original piece. It was originally: "As the light I seek grows lesser" and is now "Hat donned, my life the joke of a jester". Neither sound great, but the way in which I used lesser was not appropriate. I'll be coming back to this one at some point.
