Heroes

Heroes

A Poem by Maulth
"

Not one of my favorites I've written. This was the second piece I ever wrote, and basically was me toying with words and familiarizing myself with ABAB. It's about the heroes who dwell in the world.

"
Through time and age they stand devout
Those whom revel in selflessness
Never once displaying their doubt
Only to stand guard for the defenseless

Among broken fields and lands riddled with grief
Stand those whose mercy knows no guise
For shadows of the world did creep
Back into every sentient life

They are silent and ever watchful
Protecting us from even those close
Their actions both planned and careful
Our pain, their burden, like blood it flows

Heroes we call them, those we depend
Agents of choice, Bulwark’s of life
Our lives and mind they’ve chose to defend
Against time, the reaper, and his scythe
