What's Deserved

God sat in anguish

For what we all had done

We defied His Holy Name

To turn our backs and run.

The time had come to end it

To end God's hurt and grief

Get rid of all the evil

Discontent and unbelief.

Then Jesus Christ stepped in

and spoke up for us all

I love them far too much

to stand to see them fall

If we give a chance

I know that some will see

spare them in their sin

and, Father, punish me.

What an awesome love
He poured out on us all

such anguish was bestowed

like blood His tears did fall

And yet through His suffering
He'd do it all again

He gave His life for us

why not live for Him.
