Something Easter

Something Easter

A Poem by Mauley

Son of God, My Jesus
They hung You on a tree
They beat you nearly lifeless
On that day of misery
They crucified the man
Who gave them back their sight
Who took their dying daughters
And brought them back to life.

Lord of All, My Shelter
They tried to break You down
they ripped away your flesh
with a single thorny crown.
They whipped, hit and beat You
But my Lord You’ll always be
No matter what they did to You
You’re beautiful to me.

King of Kings, My Savior
How could you take the blame
You chose to take upon yourself
All our filthy shame.
I’m proud to call you King
For my king’s love is true
no matter what they do to me
I’m beautiful to you.

Jesus Christ, Redeemer
They could not keep you down
Even though they tried so hard
To keep you in the ground
My Lord will soon return
His vengeance he will bring
Praise God!! I know in the end
My Lord returns for me!!
