PerhapsA Poem by MatyushkinA free verse poem about the nature of thought.
The ground is growing My stomach is a balloon I'm inclined to swallow air Falling
The airplane flies pass me I flip in the air; I'm in the cockpit Flying
And yet I try to keep my eyes on it Even though I can see trees I keep my eyes up tomorrow and tomorrow
and tomorrow Always up
Oh, how wonderful it is in the
cockpit I can see all the sky without
falling Perhaps I can fly if I flap my
wings Perhaps
Perhaps I can jump off the ground Perhaps the plane with catch me Perhaps if I will the plane towards
me and hope real hard-- Smack © 2013 Matyushkin |
