Afraid of the LightA Poem by Matyushkin"We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light." ~PlatoShe
lives under blood-sky night Where
the fog slashes through light And
coffins with doors and windows Line
abandoned streets, dead At
high noon
A signal ray of love Shinning
from a heart in the blood-sky Builds
a bridge into to the lunch room Where
he offers her coffee
Blood
is afraid of Holy Water Water
is too watery for blood The
bright heart bleeds, the sky reddens She
demolishes the bridge It
made her blind The
coffee is poured down the sink
She
lives in horror movies She
is corpse, murder and victim Her
hands bang on the inside of the screen As
her butt hurts from the chair
She
has never been a 'she' but an 'I'
