Execution via Green TeaA Poem by MatyushkinEveryone gets their just-desserts, even talking sugar...The water was green as
could be A thick green mist you
could see Hovering above all that
tea Sitting at the bottom of
a cup; a vast sea
You must already guess
how a sugar cub felt As it drifted dejected
and bitterly dwelt In warm waters which,
made it melt "Spoon! Quick help
me and find a life belt! Stop leaning about or
I'll have you welt...!" Sugar threaded, in warm water
which, made it melt "Sour sugar, with
you I've never dealt Yet the gossip has you
poorly spelt; In warm waters that make
you melt You are a rotten child
finally getting the belt You're wickedness has
soured you, or so we've felt Everyone laughs at warm
waters which make you melt", Spoon said while beside
Sugar it knelt.
Ella knew nothing of the spoon or the
"we" She was sitting dressed
up, the cup on her knee They all sipped in
unison, Ella with the other three And later she wondered
what was wrong with her tea...
