Walking to work bluesA Poem by MattJust a bit of fun!Walking through the city centre off to work I go I wish the lady in front of me would put down her mobile phone She shouts in anger and cheers with joy all while standing in my way Can she not see I'm on my way to work and she is causing me delay? Now little old Dorris has come out today all on her very own A knitted hat upon her her head and a face like alcapone she treads down the lanes in her petticoat and snow white cosy feet Wrapped up in her winter coat...providing much needed heat She walks with arms outstretched fingers gripping her frame For today is the day she gets her pension and nothing will stand in her way She is an elderly lady out on a mission reporting for duty sir She can see well for her timely age but the distant path is a blur She wavers and wobbles to and fro at 3 miles per hour All while I'm becoming late for work...my mood becoming sour I finally reach the shopping centre through which I'm passing through But here they come with leaflets in hand shouting ''can i speak to you'' I can save you money every month if you will fill out a form or two Then there are the people paid to walk around with a tray Laden with sweet niceties that are free to take away But do you not understand I'm here for work not pleasure And if you hold me up anymore your day will not be getting better Finally I escape the busy mall even if only until morn Tomorrow pedestrians better pay heed to my scorn I see the staff entrance positioned in from of me...like a mirage I see the door As i approach the keypad i sigh with relief as I finally enter the store Rant over © 2017 Matt |
