Freedom

Freedom

A Poem by Matthew Green

I have my freedom now

The rules I can eschew

No guide or map or compass needle tells me what to do

No path below me guides my feet

I wander where I will

I could go wherever I want,

so why do I stand still?

There's a whole world to see, and I could go

explore it all, but I don't know

where I should start, and I can't see

where my feet are taking me.

I have my freedom now,

but I also pay the cost:

For all my talk of roaming free

all I am is lost.

"No path below me guides my feet / I wander where I will"

I love these lines combined with the structure of the poem; wondering all over the page. Very nice, I enjoyed reading it

Great poem for 16. I think our entire life we are lost and our feet takes us where they will. Very well pennned, a good job on this work. I do not usually read the teen stuff but today I found some really good pieces. This is one of them. Jay
