The Looming Horror

The Looming Horror

A Poem by Matthew
"

I've been finding great inspiration in the classic literature I've been reading lately. This is what I've produced from it, it's a poem of ambition and the fear that stifles it.

"
Placed in a pit
Your pulse is your pendulum
And the leper is your friend
The looming horror
that does not discern
and it does not decay

It is always there
with glistening eyes
and the breathe
of a man
More ominous than self doubt
less discriminating than
the cold finger
of death

Approaching the sun is an act
of absurdity
arrogance
and audacity
Fit for those who
want to fail
And the feudalism
of foundations
and the ferocity
of aspirations

This is a very rough outline. I want to make it longer and cleaner but I must humbly admit that I don't know how. Please help
