Chapter 1-Four months laterA Chapter by Matthew Ian Herrawood Wits Four months after the events of Book 1 and the five freinds are reunited in a most peculiar way.Chapter 1 Four months later I listend to the buzz of uncountable conversations around me as the bus bumped gently along the road. My head rested on the window and to any watching it would seem I was trying to pierce the darkness and look at the scenery but my eyes though open were glazed over as I stared at nothing lost in thought. It had been four months now since I had been in another world, four months since my life had been in danger, four months since I had wielded a sword or bow with a pendant around my neck, four months since I had been absolutely scared out of my wits, four months since I had had an adventure. Exactly four months ago I had entered the world of Germo and had begun fighting in a war. I had been there for months but in the end when I could finally return home the use of a magical device had sent me back to this world exactly six minutes after leaving. I had not been alone there however, the girl who sat next to me on the bus was only a little shorter than me but her head rested on my chest and I knew she was asleep even as I recalled her being pulled against her will into Germo and then my argument with my three other friends who I finally managed to convince to follow me through a magic door to get her, Amy, back. Before returning home me and Amy and my other three friends had been told we would be brought to the land of Germo again but it would not happen for at least four months. Any time now we would somehow end up in Germo again. One of my other friends who ended up in Germo with us was also on the bus. As this thought occurred to me I turned my head to look behind me to Emily she was laughing and joking but she seemed stiff. “Can I waste a page of your paper” I asked a girl on the seat 2 in front of mine who was scribbling things down in a note book. She shrugged tearing out a page and handing it to me not looking up. I screwed the paper up and then ditched it at Emily. She picked it up with a speed only gained from people who have had to fight for their lives with swords but she held her hand back when she saw me staring at her intently. She excused herself from her other friends and carefully walked over sitting down on the seat in front of me and behind the girl who handed me the paper. “Four months” I whispered. Emily only nodded. “Do you think we will all be together when we go back?” I asked her. “I don’t know I think when we go we will be together but I don’t think we have to be together before we go they will probably use some sort of magic if we aren’t together” “Of course they will” a voice mumbled from my chest making us both jump I looked down to see Amy eyes half opened but clearly awake. She wriggled a bit as if burying herself deeper against me. I bent over quickly kissing the top of her head and as Amy looked up Emily promptly pushed Amy’s head back against my chest and my head up. “You’re not going to show anymore affection than that in front me” Emily said no longer whispering. I laughed and Amy giggled. We both knew that us kissing in front of her made her uncomfortable but we had no idea why my and Amy’s show of affection for each other should. Suddenly the bus shuddered then the people sitting behind us started going through us soon the entire bus was in front of us Me Emily and Amy were sitting on a bus that was empty and insubstantial the whole thing was see through. Then the bus started to turn like it was flipping onto its roof but the movement wasn’t jerky. It was smooth. It glided over however the roof stayed in mid air and the three of us didn’t move with it. As the bus flipped it slowly began to fade then when it was completely gone Amy Emily and I simply dropped to the ground. I got up dusting myself off and lending Amy a hand. “Well were still in South Aussie” “No s**t Sherlock” came the unexpected reply to my comment. We all turned to see a boy who was older than me and easily taller than me. “But I’m not home in my bed” Daniel said “Really we never noticed” Amy told him “how did you put it? No s**t Sherlock?” Daniel rolled his eyes choosing, wisely, not to comment. “Do you know where we are?” Emily said suddenly. I looked around. “No way” I breathed “Yep way” Emily said. Amy and Dan looked at us both for a moment then said together. “What?” “Ryan’s house” I said “Were outside Ryan’s house” “And look whose coming up the driveway” Emily said pointing. And there stumbling slightly up the drive was Ryan. © 2011 Matthew Ian Herrawood WAuthor's Note
