PrologueA Chapter by Matthew Ian Herrawood WShould and can Lucretia bring back the five?Prologue “Our spy’s report that the armies are starting to gather and they will move the dwarves and any other populations near the dwarves first. Unfortunately the spy network reports all suggest numbers much larger than our own military strength, While most reports say that they number three times more than us, some say they number double that, six times our strength. With those numbers skill and plans will not help us win they will kill us all regardless of our plans and skill we couldn’t get there in time anyway...” Lucretia held up a hand to stop Cixtexk (six-techs) from continuing. Lucretia’s sudden promotion to Prophetic protector after Nila’s death had caught her off guard and what’s more it had come at one of the most critical times of the war the five of another world had gone home but they would need to be brought back at some point. If Lucretia brought them back too soon they may deal with the current problem and leave just before an even bigger problem presents itself if she brings them back too late they may not be able to help. Lucretia thought fast. The rules of bringing the five back were more complicated than one might think at least two months had to pass before they could be brought back Lucretia still didn’t know what caused it but if the rule was not followed the five and world they were being brought to would instantly be wiped from existence, however when the five had returned home they had requested the use of the time device so that they were returned to their world six minutes after they had stepped through the door. For some reason use of the time device added another two months onto how long you had to wait before Lucretia could get someone to bring the five back making the total four months. Finally she came to a decision. “Cixtexk how long do we have left to wait until we can bring the five back to us or can we do it now?” “milady” Cixtexk replied “three months three weeks five days have passed we still have 2 days to wait on the third day we can bring them back” “go organise someone who can bring them back through the door in the Highlands on the third day.” Cixtexk nodded and left immediately. As he hurried off Lucretia began praying hard that it was the right time to bring the five back to her world. © 2010 Matthew Ian Herrawood W |
