Realm 2 Chapter 4 (Preveiw)

its been awhile since I posted a chapter between computer problems, a busy life and the many story's I have been writing. So here is a preview of what's coming. Suggestions welcome.

Chapter 4

Skirmish

 

We were greeted by cheers as we headed back toward the center of town dragging our tied up captives none to gently behind us. Each captive was tied to a different rope which resulted in the five of us dragging multiple ropes in each hand. People came rushing toward us  on every side some taking the ropes we held dragging the captives off somewhere else while people screamed insults at them and young children threw whatever they had on hand at the time mostly damp dirt though I also saw the occasional fruit which reminded me of historical films with people in the stocks. Other towns people surrounded us cheering and clapping a few even hugged us which I noticed made Ryan squirm uncomfortably (a quick glance at Amy confirmed she had noticed it also and was figuring out a way to tease Ryan about it). Kyle came up to us shaking his head.

“Well ill be” he said “that’s 2 impossible things I’ve seen today and to top it all off you won too!” we smiled at him but as he moved off as more of the crowed pushed through to us I spoke quietly to Daniel.
“I hope you still remember how to make a plan with your pendant, what are we going to do when we have to leave?” Daniel simply nodded in understanding and got lost in thought.

Everyone cheered as Daniel stood up on the table. He raised his hands in a motin indicating quite before he began speaking.

“Friends” though he said it with a normal voice his words carried as though the stillness of the inn allowed his voice to carry further “for a time that is unknown to myself men have come and burned your homes. They have killed your men and sons. They have raped your women and daughters. Renmear and his men have made your lives hell and met with no resitance… Untill today” the town cheered and Daniel let them.

“enjoying this a bit much isn’t he?” Emily asked.

“It pays to get them excited and cheering” Ryan said surprising us all “that way they are more likely to fight as we move on.” A moment later Daniel quitend the crowed again.
“friends today we helped you we took the first step in defending your home but we must continue on we cannot stay here for you are not the only town that these men are attacking. You need not fear these men. They call themselves soldiers but their actions prove that they are nothing more than Bandits and anyone has a chance against bandits. If you are prepared my friends and I will stay for 2 more days. Amy will teach some of you how to stay hidden and Watch for incoming hostile men. Emily will teach you all how to fight without a weapon and how to take one from an armed opponent. Ryan will make weapons the likes of which you have never seen and teach you how to use them so your enemy will not stand a chance. The stockpile he makes will eventually run out and you will not be able to duplicate the results but will also teach you how to build traps you can duplicate many times to help defend your home. Matthew will teach you sword play and archery. None of you will become master swordsman but under his tutalige you will have some skills and knowlage that gives you a better chance of survival if you need to start swinging swords. And I will oversee fortifications to protect the town. When we have finished if Renmears Bandits return they will find a resistance that they cannot beat! Are you willing?” A roar of Affirmatin went up from the crowd.

“am I the only one who has been nominated for a job I didn’t know I would be doing?” Ryan asked. I nodded as Emily responded.

“You looked busy earlier when you were eating your dinner at the bar so when Daniel told us the plan and we agreed we just figured majority ruled and so if you didn’t like it…” Emily shrugged and Amy finished in a sing song voice.

“Too Bad!”
