Some Important facts are remembered. is it really so surprising that we failed now that these Things are remembered?

Forgotten facts

 

“Stupid!” Daniels sudden outburst caused me to jump dropping the stack of breakfast bowls I was carrying to the kitchen for washing.

 “Damn” I mumbled crouching to pick up some of the bigger bits of the smashed bowls. “You better have a good reason for that” I shot at Daniel as I straightened up again. Daniel nodded.

“Leave that in the Kitchen for a moment Matt and return instead with Ryan and Amelia. I’ll get Amy and Emily from the garden, just wait in here for your explanation you will get it when we are all together”. I nodded and called out as I made my made my way to the kitchen door.

“Ryan! Amelia! Get out here!”

“What’s going on?” Ryan asked from the kitchen door sword drawn. I brushed past Ryan and put the bowl shards in the bin.

“Dunno. Daniel just yelled out like a madman and told me to get you two in there” Ryan nodded and continued into the dining hall but Amelia stayed and as I walked over to the door she asked me another question.

“Why are bowls broken?” I laughed.

“When Daniel yelled out suddenly I jumped and dropped them”

“Those where my favourite”

“You have favourite eating implements?” I asked as Amelia stepped to the side to allow me through the door.

“You may have forgotten but before I met you guys I didn’t own much and ate off a table that may as well have been a floor that had a whole heap of crap on it”

“I suppose I understand” I said nodding and sat down next to Ryan While Amelia sat down on his other side. Daniel came in at that point with Amy and Emily. Emily and Daniel sat down as he slapped a piece of paper down on the table.

“Recognise it?” Amy picked it up as she walked over to me and started reading, as she sat down next to me I noticed her eyes which had narrowed. She handed it to me when she was finished and asked simply

“Why?” I looked down at what was on the paper and my eyes too narrowed as I read the prophecy about us

One for strength

One for stealth

One for a brain

One for weapons

One for a fight

One for killing

The killer must be strong

The killer must be silent

The killer must be smart

The killer must improvise weapons

The killer must fight

If 6 becomes 5

If 5 becomes 4

If 4 becomes 3

If 3 becomes 2

If 2 becomes 1

All is lost

None can win

The world is in war

The war must be stopped by pendants of power 1 2 3 4 5 6

Pendants must be worn by 6 from a different Realm

 

“The Prophecy?” I asked Daniel while I passed it to Ryan. Daniel ignored my question as he had Amy and simply watched as Ryan read it then Emily before it finally was passed back to him.

“What the hell is going on?” Amelia asked. She had simply listened to our questions and had not read the prophecy over Ryan’s shoulder. I sighed as Daniel passed her the paper and then as she read I started to Explain.

“As you already know there is a war based around us…”

“Whoa!” Amelia cut me off “I thought you just joking when you said that!”

“But Matt and I showed you our pendants” Amy said. And Amelia nodded “I remember But I thought you were just a bunch of Bloody do gooders that just happened to have some magic pendants to help you!”

“And when we killed the assassins? Why were assassins after us in the first place? How did you explain that?” I asked exasperated

“I had two possibilities” Amelia told me “first you had upset somebody in a big way by doing good or as do gooders you were going to remove them when no one else dared to” I couldn’t really fault Amelia for her reasoning it made sense.

“Ok well it’s time we tell you the full story then” Emily said.

“We are from another world.” Ryan started “Amy was forcibly brought to this world. Matt convinced the rest of us to follow and help him save her. When we stepped through the door leading to this world we were given these pendants as gifts to help us stop a war. The pendants and our presence on this world are part of a prophecy. The prophecy however is not exact it does not tell us if we will succeed in fact it says that if one of us dies…”

“We all will” Emily whispered. Silence ensued for a few moments before I continued.

“Since we came here we have met every manner of life imaginable and more. Some of them we have fought against some have fought with us. We have almost died countless times and had just as many assassination attempts. We have been attacked by magic users bandits Mythical and black magic creatures.  We have so far however always succeeded in staying alive. And completed our objective.”

“And this Prophecy refers to me too. Because I have a pendant?”

“Yes” I said.

“Yes” Daniel repeated but then he continued “but not in the way the others believe. If I could draw your attention to line 3”
“5 must find 6 and 6 must be delivered?” I mumbled “What about it?” I asked but then in dawned on me and my eyes widened “Holy S**t!”

“What?” Ryan said thoroughly annoyed.

“Amelia isn’t 6 but has 6”

Daniel nodded Amelia’s eyes widened and she read the prophecy again and Emily covered her mouth with a hand Ryan looked confused and Amy summed up his look in her own way of telling everyone she didn’t get it

“Whoosh” she said passing a hand over her head. Daniel explained

“The 5 obviously means all of us excluding Amelia right?” Ryan and Amy nodded and Dan continued “the prophecy mentions two things that are a set of 6 pendants and people right?” again they nodded “this 3rd line tells us the specifics of the sets that we have recognized and because both sets are mentioned in the same line we know there is a sixth member of our group and a 6^th pendant both of which we have but in saying that we would have a sixth member and sixth pendant if I went to the market and brought the first person I saw with a pendant”

“So what you’re saying…” Amy said slowly and then Ryan finished the sentence

“… Is that we have the wrong person and pendant?”

“Not quite” I said “we have the right Pendant and the right girl but we have neglected one part of the line… 6 MUST BE DELIVERED… I’ll bet Amelia is the one to deliver the pendant to the 6^th member we need but she is not the 6^th member of our team”

“That’s what mamma told me” Amelia whispered. We all turned to look at her stunned it was the first time she had ever talked about her mother. And we had all assumed that she didn’t know her mother like most of the other kids living on the street. “When I was little Mamma was bleeding badly in the street. I can’t remember why but before she died she gave me this pendant and said ‘give it to its owner’ I asked who it was and all she would say was ‘you will know’” she looked like she was about to cry and Amy started to get up but Amelia Suddenly buried her head in Ryan’s shoulder and clutched him while continuing to sob so Amy sat back down while Ryan Awkwardly patted Amelia on the back. I smothered a laugh at his awkwardness but he heard and turned to look so I mouthed ‘hug her’ hugging had been something Amelia and Ryan had been doing increasingly often but not with everyone watching like they were now so as Ryan stopped patting Amelia and just hugged her he looked more at ease but still generated a sense of awkwardness. It surprised me that the small memory had affected her so. While I could understand the pain and the loss I would have expected her to have accepted it to a point where she would say it is sad and upsetting but she wouldn’t start crying. After a moments reflection on that I reasoned that if she had let it affect her while living in the streets she would probably be dead now and so it had probably been bottled up for a long time. We all sat in silence for a few minutes listening to Amelia‘s deep shuddering breaths as tears slid down her cheeks onto Ryan’s shoulder and reflected on what had been said. When Amelia finally lifted her head Ryan said.

“Well I guess we now know what to do next. We have to find this mysterious member” everyone nodded.

“Should be easy” Emily said sarcastically “we only have a few billion of people to choose from”

“Not quite” Daniel said and we all looked at him.

“What?” I asked but this time Amy was nodding.

“He’s right the prophecy also says its 6 people from another world” Amy then looked at Amelia “Another reason you can’t be the 6^th member”

“I am from another world. I can’t remember it but I remember mother telling me about it” We all stared at Amelia again in shock before I broke the silence.

“So the amount of possible people is significantly reduced because we are looking for someone from another world. This presents another problem however, how do we find someone without people knowing we can’t simply go around asking word will get out and Zamar knows the prophecy he will know what we are doing and realizing Amelia is not the 6^th member he will find us and try and kill us.”

“I think” Daniel said “we pay a visit to Flina”
