Watching the River Flow

Watching the River Flow

A Poem by Matt Stitzel

Life and love coupled with time
Combine and prove to be just a river
In which we all flow

Feelings or urges consisting of lust and others
Come together in some way to be
The meandering way it may glow

Eyes and minds distract and react
To altercations and meaningless deliberations
Of a political show

This game of chance we call romance
Where we quietly quarrel
And squabble for scraps

I grow tired of this
These ramblings of the drunkard I've
somehow become. lost in my own time lapse

I look around and wonder
Only wish I wasn't here yet not back there
This heart and mind is ready to collapse
