What Happened!!!!

What Happened!!!!

A Poem by Matthew Ryan Hardy
"

I don't know what to say!

"

My Heart is a burden

For what she thinks you did

I can’t even think straight

I don’t think you would do something like that

But what am I to say

What I say is no important to this situation

I hope by the end

Everything is cleared up

And you are free to live on

With your happy life

Poignant in it's briefness, directness, and lack of explanation. Everyone has felt like this, and by leaving the poem wide open, the reader can apply this short passage to their own life. It's not dressed up at all, this is a little stream of consciousness snapshot, a response, a reaction, it has a feel of being very in the moment. In particular, there is a sense of irony, almost bitterness, in the final two lines, which rings out and stays with the reader after finishing. There is an underlying sense of anger here. The short syllables, short lines, broken rhythm, and lack of punctuation give it a sense of speed and energy and unpredictability which probably mirrors the situation it describes. The capitalization of "Heart" gives the poem a sense of focus, this is an emotional poem, that wears it's Heart on it's sleeve :) Good writing.

try to use more varied vocabulary for stronger meaning. as it is, you are just kind of explaining to yourself, it reads a bit muddled and vague and blah.

The best thing you can do is bite your lip and push through. No sense in fighting what you cant control, just try to go with it.

Sometime best to listen and be a help in a solution. Life can be hard. Many twist and turns. Sometime we must be kind to people who are struggling. I hope all things fall right for you. A poem with many questions and concerns.
