I wonderA Poem by Matt Cabazal
I Wonder
When I grow up and fail in life, I wonder if there will still be light. Will April still march November? Like dreams; forgotten forever. Will I ever see the blue sky With all these towers of papers? Can both my broken wings still fly? Like an innocent man in death row. When I'm faded as a stormy noon, Will tomorrow come to me soon? When my pages are stained with dirt, Would you read it until it hurts? Will I ever hear children's voices? Bills and taxes up in my ears, When Christmas does not bring me joy, Just see the stories through the years. I wonder how it will play me. I wonder when it will kill me. Like a kid in a playground or Like a dead man asking for more. © 2018 Matt Cabazal |
