Heart Crimes (Punishment)

Heart Crimes (Punishment)

A Poem by Matt Buckler... obviously
"

A man who looks back on the heartache of his bitter break up with the love of his life, after many years of togetherness, feeling betrayal. His woman has betrayed him. His heart has betrayed him. Etc.

"

You are vile, you are horrid,

A loathsome little beast!

Treat me poorly, hurt me sorely,

Upon my misery you feast!

While my opinion of you plummets

With each passing day,

Sometime soon all this anguish

You deal me I’ll repay!

Yet still as I lay here

And your vision fills my mind,

A reason for which I tolerate

Your punishment I can’t find.

The problem is that while

My self-esteem declines,

I can’t forget all the laughs at all

The joys, those merry times.

And while I battle with my reason,

My heart commits wretched treason,

Emotions swell,

Its hard to tell,

How love could be so cruel

To this poor old fool…
