A Dead Man

A Dead Man

A Poem by Matt G
"

"People often love to see death when it isn't upon them." -this was proposed in a writing prompt I came across. This is my personal response to it.

"

To hold the hand,

Of a dying man,

A man you never knew.

To look into his eyes,

As he dies,

And know there's nothing you can do.

Is it fair?

Just sitting there?

Knowing he's gone too soon?

Seeing all his dreams,

All the places he planned to see,

To know these will never come true.

Is it wrong?

To try to not feel for him?

Does it make you cruel?

Or is it life,

The struggle and strife,

That we all go through.
