Northern Winters

Northern Winters

A Poem by Jesse Lancaster
"

Feeling wishy-washy and remembering the cold winter back home before this year.

"
I couldn't tell you what I saw or
what happened next, I swear I never used
to forget this much or feel so displaced
And as the clocks wound down,
We heard the voices call out,
tried my best to reason with nature
but the snow continued to stack.
And as hills started to rise,
it began to level the trees,
left the whole town deserted,
I watched the wildlife flee,
but failed to keep my composure,
began to ooze at the seams.
They all wanted a reason,
or maybe somewhere to sleep
but I couldn't take the noise
so I pleaded them leave, leave me
to count my losses, just another mark
on the wall of what could have been,
another night awake, fleshing
out the traits I believe to be the
best and worst of me.
