Keep In TouchA Poem by Jesse LancasterWhat am I but careless? Living for the present but stuck retracing past lines, erased./// I've been cleaning house, by that I mean getting rid of s**t I don't need, pictures, photographs, memories, even in sleep I find pieces of you-- sticky notes and words I would've never knew if I hadn't asked you to come and you hadn't asked me to stay, so I take careful steps, meticulous yet constantly backtracking for every speck missed, things that make it hard to find peace, things that make it difficult to see, things that take the oxygen from the air I breathe and replace it with coal, books and trinkets that remind me, keep me from becoming whole; a personal Lacuna inside my head, delete, fills these spaces with textbooks I should've read, each month promising to be better than the last, eager to let the past be just that: past. © 2012 Jesse LancasterReviews
