Ode To Zway

A Poem by Matthew Bass

I love you,
because you are so much more human
I love you,
because you will be there waiting

When the final coffee ceremonies
turn to hugs, tears, and sing-songs
there will be only joy.
Because,
every step
every breath
every sound
will be the sweet song of Ethiopia,

watching over me until,
I return back to where I belong.
