Lost In The Midle

Lost In The Midle

A Poem by Matthew Bass

tension
joy
exitement
insecurity
longing
fear
frustration

absolutely crazy

adventure
escape.

The Royal Palace
     that drunken night
          and your red dress

I come back here in different ways

Where it began and ended
the minute you pulled me under
by the back of my head.

I took a very long walk today

Here,
The night is still warm
La Negrita still ferments in the garden

I am still wandering in the manicured bushes
clenching your hand even tighter.
